Thiruvananthapuram: Former DGP and Head of State Police K V Rajagopalan Nair died here on Sunday.
He is 83 years old.
Native Kannur, K v Rajagopalan Nair owned by Batch IPS 1962.
He has served as the Chief of State Police from April 30, 1995, until June 30, 1996.
He also serves as DGP (Prison and Correctional Services) and Director of Precautions and Anti-Corruption Bureau.
He was an officer who moved away from the power struggle and made his legs remain strong on the ground without being influenced by positions in the police or political considerations.
While serving as Head of State Intelligence, he has led a team that oversees a special police team that investigates the case of the ISRO espionage.
After the retirement of the service, the UDF government led by Antony K has put it in a team under the former Supreme Court Judge K T Thomas to review the police performance, who has analyzed and made several recommendations.
His body was cremated in Santhokavadom in Thycaud on Sunday night.
