Chennai: Police arrested Aiadmk Mlaas, including former Minister of Minister O Panneerselvam, when they protested outside Kalaivanar Charcoal – where the Tamil Nadu assembly session session took place.
They protested to condemn the steps of the DMK government to combine the University of Jayalalithaa in Villupuram with Annamalai University.
AIADMK members walked out of the Assembly against the Tamil Nadu University Law (Amendment and Repreal), which was submitted by the Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi at home.
The bill was submitted to change the annamalai University Act 2013, Bharathidasan University Act 1981 and to revoke the University Law Dr.
J Jayalalithaa 2021.
Former Minister of Higher Education KP Anbazhagan stood and said they were “very opposed to the bill”.
Panneerselvam opposition leader also stood up to register a party holder.
APPAVU speakers intervene that Anadmk Member’s objection has been registered and can be taken for discussion.
“According to the rules, I have recorded your objections during the introduction of the bill.
You can air your view during the discussion on the bill in the wise segment,” said the speaker and asked the AIDMK legislature to comply with the rules of the house.
However, Aidmk members refused to sit.
The Duraimurugan floor leader intervened and made sarcastic comments that they had decided to leave and let them do what they wanted.
After walking out of the Assembly, they sat in Wallaja Silai outside Kalaivanar Arangam and raised the slogan against the state government which filled it as a political vendetta.
Protests affect traffic on the road.
The police were held by Ops and other MLA AIADMK (photos by Prathap) protest lasted for about 15 minutes.
The police were deployed outside Kalaivanar Arangam took the protesters and took them to the nearest wedding room where they were detained.

When Duraimurugan wondered if PMK members walked out, they clarified that they did not.
According to the bill, the Annamalai University will be converted from a type of unity on the type of affiliate, by affiliating the university situation in Villupuram Regency, Cuddalore, Kalakurichi and Mayilduthurai.
This will also change the 2013 Annamalai University Law (Tamil Nadu Act 20 of 2013) and Bharathidasan Act 1981 (Tamil Nadu Act 2 of 1982) in accordance with and also to revoke the University Law from Dr.
Jayalithaa 2021 (Tamil Nadu Act 5 of 2021) .
