EX-US Diplomat said Myanmar released imprisoned American journalists

BANGKOK: The former US Ambassador to Bill Rich Richardson said American journalist Danny Fenster had been released from prison in Myanmar.
Richardson said in a statement Monday that Fenster had been released from prison and handed him in Myanmar and would soon be on the way home through Qatar.
Fenster, Editor Managing Frontier Online Magazine Myanmar, was sentenced to Friday to disseminate false information or inflammation, contacted illegal organizations and violated visa regulations and was sentenced to 11 years of hard work.
Richardson said he negotiated the release of the Fenster during a recent visit to Myanmar when he held a face-to-face meeting with a military leader who overthrew the elected government from Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi in February.
