Thiruvananthapuram: Neylattinkara’s excise official on Wednesday arrested a man with 1.4 kilograms of marijuana and 25 Nitrazepam tablets from Mukkampalamoodu.
The defendant was identified as Anu aka Muttai Anu from Olipunada near Naruvamoodu.
Officials said that they intercepted Anu in Mukkampalayu based on the intelligence information they received.
Allegations tried to hold back the arrest by attacking the officer.
However, the officer managed to defeat him and took him to detention.
Anu, accused of being a custom violation, involved in several cases of serious crimes, including efforts to kill.
He used to sell marijuana and narcotics using the name of the ‘muttai’ code (sweet) and therefore got the nickname of Muttai Anu.
Anu was arrested by a team led by Excise Inspector S Sachin.
Officials said that Nitrazepam tablet, which was confiscated from the defendant, was used to treat patients with mental illness.

Nitrazepam Tablet can be purchased from a medical store using only a triple-recipe from a doctor.
Doctors, pharmacists and buyers must store copies of recipes and pharmacists must store separate registry in the store to maintain the details of the sale of this drug.
Having more than 20 grams of this drug without a prescription is a crime that can take up to 10 years of imprisonment and RS 1 Lakh penalty.
