Mysuru: The intention of maintaining the ecological balance of Tiger’s bandipur reserves, the forestry department is working on zonal plans to protect areas that are sensitive to the environment.
This plan was mentioned as the first type in Karnataka, with biologists and fans of the Sanjay Gubbi wildlife among those who expressed their interest in helping the planned design department.
Bandipur is located in the heart of the Nilgiri biosphere reserve, which, in turn, is an integral part of the MySore Elephant Reserve.
In addition to boasting the highest macan population in this country, Bandipur is home to a large number of elephants.
Apart from the population of heavy wildlife, there are no parent plans to save eco-sensitive zones in reserves, conservation of water bodies and regional recovery that are not borne by trees.
The proposed master plan hopes to overcome this lacunee in bandipur management.
The Department of Forest officials told TOI that the new plan would identify all places of worship in reserves, tribal hamlets, agricultural land and mention the body of the water.
The plan was being compiled based on the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and officials in all departments in the state government were consulted, given the impact of its implementation on local ecological conservation.
The environmentally sensitive zone inside Bandipur Tiger reserves are home to 123 villages spread in Nanjead and HD Kote Taluks in MySuru, Gundlupet, and Chamarajanagar Taluks in the border district.
The pattern of land use in these villages is dominated for horticultural agriculture and plants, while public utilities such as roads, health centers, et al, take the remaining space.
Assistant Sub-division Gundlupet Bandipur, Forest Conservator K Paramaesh told TII, “The department has issued experts who invite tenders to submit their proposals for the master plan.
Sanjay Gubbi has expressed interest in developing a plan.
The deadline for submitting plans is December.” Paramesh Adding that the Eco-sensitive Zone Monitoring Committee will enable farmers to build farming houses in five Guntas specifically dedicated to that purpose.
“Farmers must get the department permit before building a house.
The Committee has warned farmers so as not to build illegal buildings or use land for commercial activities with the pretext of using it for organic cultivation.
The Committee has requested the income department to destroy the structure built without authorization,” said Paramesh .
