New Delhi: After the onset of a delayed Monsun over Delhi on Tuesday, almost a month late from the earliest predictions of June 15, the Indian Meteorology Department said the rainy season would be ‘normal’ or ‘under normal’ in the capital.
From June 1 to July 13, the capital recorded a rain deficit of 65% from normal for the period.
However, meeting officials said even though the rainy season arrived late in the city, the deficit was likely to be borne during the season.
Kuldeep Srivastava, Scientists at the IMD and Head of the Regional Weather Forecasting Center, said, “The rainy season in Delhi is expected to remain normal or below normal.
The main rainfall activities are usually recorded from 10 July to the last week of August.

While the normal sign for the June-September period was 648.9mm rain, Delhi received 576.6mm last year and only 404.3mm in 2019.
Delhi has received rainfall ‘above normal’ only three times in the last 11 years, according to IMD data from 2010 to 2020.
This year, the Rain of Monsun reached the capital after delaying 16 days from the normal date of June 27.
Last year, arrived two days early, but the Monsun withdrew from Delhi on September 30 with a total of 20% deficits.
The date of the normal withdrawal from the summer of the city was September 21 to the revision to September 25 last year.
Weather Skymet, a personal weather forecasting agent expects a late Monsun withdrawal from Delhi.
