Panaji: To prevent polluted candidates from the selection of fighting, the Election Commission said that political parties must reveal criminal records of all of their candidates, and also explain the reason why candidates have been chosen to oppose the assembly selection of 2022.
Head of Commissioner Sushil Chandra’s election meets Parties who were in a commotion for assembly selection of 2022 and said that the Commission would be strict to comply with the norm.
Political parties must disclose this information on their website and at least three times through newspapers.
“The public must actually get information about the credentials of a candidate.
Political parties must also provide reasons why they choose someone with criminal antecedents, and why they cannot find a clean candidate,” Chandra said.
Chandra said that the ability to win elections cannot be counted as a reason, also cannot be said to be quoted as a reason to choose certain candidates.
The term Goa legislature will end on March 15 and elections are expected to be held in early February.
The high-ranking official team met with Congress Representatives, BJP, Goa Forward Party and MGP.
“In certain cases monitored by the Commission, we found that the parties have given the reason that candidates have done a lot of social work.
This is released from the Supreme Court saying that victory could not be the reason.
The commission will become more stringent about this,” Chandra said.
He also announced that special cells were being consulted on monitoring criminal records of candidates.
EC will also track and monitor social media, news outlets and political demonstrations to track false news, hate speeches and paid news examples.
“There should be no hatred speech by political parties during the election, which damaged the atmosphere,” Chandra said, when he urged political parties to ensure that the upcoming polls can be referred to as “ethical elections” in the country.
EC has urged voters and political parties to take advantage of the online facilities provided by the head of the cave election election office, specifically submitted an online nomination, permission for shipments and submission of political expenditure.
In their part, political parties demand free and fair elections to ensure that BJP does not abuse the government’s machines to influence the election.
“The Indian Election Commission is truly committed to conducting the elections that will come in very free, fair, impartial, transparent, and truly confused elections,” Chandra said, acknowledging that several opposition parties expressed concern about efforts to intimidate voters.
