Explained: What is the Walkie Talkie feature and how it works

Microsoft finally made the Walkie Talkie feature of the team’s video conference application available for all users.
As the name implies, this feature allows users to turn their smart phones or tablets to walkie talkies that function through cellular networks or Wi-Fi.
But Microsoft is not the only company that strives to implement features into their application or service.
Apple also has similar features for Apple Watch and Slack also launched something similar last year which allows users to have conversations by pressing the button.
So, what is Walkie Talkie and how it works? This is our explorer for you.
Read on: What is Walkie-TalkieWalkie-Talkie is a small portable device such as a telephone that displays the transmitter, receiver and antenna to send and receive radio waves.
This device depends on radio waves to communicate wirelessly in a limited range in a single frequency band.
One of the main benefits of this device is that it does not require a data plan or call plan to work.
After you have a device, it is completely free and one can easily communicate with other people set into the same frequency below a certain range by just pressing the button.
Over time, things become phone makers and telephones start applying something similar to their phone features along with a special push-to-talk button.
Modern smartphones do not display such features naturally, but there are applications that allow users to use their handsets as a walkie-talkie.
How they work on modern smartphonestraditional walkie-talkie devices, as mentioned, depends on radio frequency signals to communicate.
However, it did not happen with smartphones today.
First, they did not come with the original Walkie-Talkie feature, except for several devices designed intentionally.
Users need to install the application to replicate the Walkie-Talkie feature.
Second, instead of radio frequency, the Walkie-Talkie feature on modern smartphones depends on cellular connectivity or Wi-Fi.
So, after the application is installed on your smartphone, users will need to be connected via a cellular network or Wi-Fi network for features to work.
The same applies to Walkie-Talkie applications and services.
