New Delhi: As a hundreds of Taliban fighters moved to control Stronghold Panjshir Valley resistance in North Afghanistan, the anti-Taliban leader who said “the war would be unavoidable if the Taliban rejected the dialogue” was Ahmad Massoud.
Ahmad Massoud was Afghan’s main post leader of anti-Taliban resistance, Massoud hoped for peace talks with extremist groups, but clearly stated that he would be ready to fight if the Taliban tried to win the control of his region.
His statement to Dubai-based TV channels came, after the Twitter video showed the truck column captured by the White Taliban flag but still bear the signs of their government moving along the highway, because the Taliban moved to Panjshir Valley.
He is the son of Ahmad Shah Masooud, who is one of the main leaders of the Afghan anti-Soviet resistance in the 1980s.
“We are dealing with the Soviet Union, and we will be able to face the Taliban,” Ahmad Massud told TV channels based in Dubai.
The Taliban told Massoud that he had four hours to surrender Panjshir Valley, Afghan Vice President Amrullah Saleh who was 32-year-old hiding.
Massoud called for an inclusive and broad-based government in Kabul who represented all different Afghan ethnic groups.
He said the “totalitarian regime” should not be recognized by the international community and that “negotiations are the only way ahead” to maintain peace in the region.
Anti-Taliban Fighter said in his statement that Afghan military members have rallied to their goals ahead of the Taliban state seizures.
“We have an ammunition shop and arm that we collect patiently since my father’s time,” he said, adding that some of the powers who joined him had brought their weapons.
Massoud’s father was killed for days before the attack on September 11, 2001 in the US by Al-Qaeda terrorists enjoyed the protection of Afghanistan under the Taliban government.
“If the Taliban warlord launches an attack, they will of course face faithful resistance from us,” he added.
