Ahmedabad: In other frauds arranged on the Matrimonial website, a vastrapur woman has been deceived by Rs 1.38 lakh by a man who claimed to be a dentist from the Netherlands.
Shraddha Shau, 28, who worked with private companies, filed a complaint on Saturday.
He said that the man, identified himself as Vihan Mehta, had contacted him on May 29.
He told him that he had seen his profile on the matrimonial site.
They start talking about WhatsApp calls.
To get Shau’s confidence, Mehta sent a picture of a document dressed like a medical degree.
He told him that he would look for a license to open the clinic in India and send him some documents, it was said that it was bearing the name of the Indian medical association.
Shau said in his code that Mehta told him that he would send some documents with couriers, which should be sent to the medical association.
On June 1, he got an email from a company called DCC Shipping.
Mail said the package aimed at Him was received and he had to pay Rs 32,700 to get it or would be forwarded to the Government Authority.
He sent money using the UPI ID provided in the email.
Then, he received another email where he was directed to pay Rs 1.05 lakh.
The letter said the foreign currency was found in the parcel and he would get 70% of the amount at the time of labor.
When he asked Mehta about this, he told him that he was in another country and would not be able to pay at that time.
But he convinced him that he would pay it later.
After he paid the amount, he received another email where he was asked to deposit Rs 2.15 lakh as a GST fee.
Mehta again urged him to pay.
At that time, suspicion had established and Shau did not make further payment.
When he asked for the money he had paid before, Metha sent him a bank deposit screenshot.
FIR mentioned ‘4,000 pounds’ as the number of claimed Mehta to be sent.
Shau didn’t accept anything at all from him.
He finally approached the police and complaints of cheating and violations of trust had been submitted.
