New Delhi: Extradition NIRAV Modi to India will worsen suicide trends and a negative impact on mental health, his lawyer argues the hearing of the court of London on Wednesday.
They also quote the condition of the bad Arthur prison in Mumbai where NIRAV should be guarded after extradition to India.
“The Prison Road Arthur cannot offer the treatment he needs.
This full Covid and NIRAV will not get a fair trial (in India),” said the lawyer.
NIRAV was currently interesting in the High Court in London against being extradited to India to face charges of fraud and money laundering in the estimated case of the Fraud of the National Bank of Punjab $ 2 billion (PNB).
The 50-year-old jewelry, which was still behind the bar in Wandsworth prison in Southwest London, has lost the first stage of the previous high court appeal as a judge refused permission to appeal “in the paper”.
He was declared a fugitive economy by the PMLA court in India in December 2019.
NIRAV was the subject of two sets of criminal processes, with CBI cases related to large-scale fraud in PNB through fraud in obtaining a business letter (Bool) or a loan agreement, and ed case related to the washing results of fraud.
He also faced two additional accusations “causing loss of evidence” and intimidating witnesses or “criminal intimidation to cause death”, which was added to the CBI case.
