Eye tension cases on the increase in Mysore: Doctor

Eye specialists in MySuru District said there was an increase in the case of asthenopia or eye tension among professionals and children who worked, mostly due to work from home arrangements and the emergence of online classes.
On average 30% of eye-related problems involve burning sensations and fatigue because of exposure to rays that are not interrupted from a laptop and cellular screen.
Doctors say adults who work and students are constantly exposed to these rays because they constantly use this gadget.
While most of them suffer from this problem consulting with doctors in hospitals and private clinics, even the Krishnarajendra Hospital managed by the state has many cases, said Dr K Sathish, the Head ofTalmology, Kr Hospital.
Most of them are young people from the economically weaker society.
Dr.
Satish said students were exposed to the screen of the screen for more than six hours a day.
One in 10 patients at KR Hospital and about 30% of eye patients in a private clinic suffer from eye tensions, he said.
Dr.
Sathish, who also saw patients at his personal clinic, said he told his patients to take a break at regular intervals and use eye drops or antireflective zero-power glasses.
Dr.
Anita T Girish, a private practitioner, also said there had been an increase in dry eye complaints because of prolonged digital screen exposure.
Even in children, cases of eye tension and drought rise, he said.
