Nagpur: In the overhaul of the unique IAS officials, the state government has transferred Commissioner of the City of Akola City Nima Arora as a collector of the district of Akola during a collector, Jitendra Papalkar, to the position of the Commissioner of the City.
Transfer orders, issued by the state government on Tuesday night, have invited controversy.
While Arora took over from Papkar on Thursday, the latter had not taken over as a commissioner.
The source said that being a senior, it was impossible for Papalkar to be responsible for a Commissioner of Class C Municipal Corporation after working as a district collector from the same district for more than two years now.
This for the first time the exchange of senior IAS officials had occurred.
Arora was appointed as Commissioner of the City of Akola in February 2021.
The transfer was not expected in just five months.
Papalkar was an IAS officer from Batch 2010 while Arora came from a collection of 2014.
Responsible for all districts, Papalkar had more administrative strength than Arora.
Considering seniority problems in cadres, people in the administration in Akola wondered how Papalkar was appointed as Commissioner of the City.
The source said that Arora had invited anger several local politicians because he worked aggressively against encroachment in the city.
He was transferred under political pressure.
But when Papalkar hasn’t taken over, Arora now takes responsibility, as a city commissioner and district collector.
In Amravati, 2014 Batch IAS OFFICER Pawaneet Kaur on Thursday took over as a collector from Naval Shailesh, which has shifted as Deputy Secretary of Mantalaya.
Then, overcoming the media, the new collector said that drive vaccination, rehabilitation problems, and ignore malnutrition would be a priority.
Kaur has worked as a project officer and assistant collector in Jawhar in Palghar Regency, CEO Aurangabad ZP, Commissioner of the Tribal Institute and Tribal Training and Women and Children in Pune.
