Eyes on the BBMP poll, Govt Clears RS 6K CR for B’luru Infra

Bengaluru: Karnataka Cabinet on Thursday Cleaned Rs 6,000 Crore Grant Special for Infrastructure Development in Bengaluru for the next three years because it tried to encourage high visibility projects such as roads and flyovers in front of the BBMP election.
The works will be taken under the Amrut Nagarotthana, a program announced by the Chairman of the Minister of Bumavaraj Bommai during last year’s independence day speech.
“We will spend RS 2,000 crore every year for the next three years and the number will be spent on the ongoing infrastructure projects – especially the tastes and class separators,” Minister of Law and Parliament JC Madhuswamy said after a cabinet meeting.
The announcement arose even because most of the city infrastructure projects mentioned in the last two state budget remained on paper due to the financial crisis.
“The two budgets proposed development projects worth Rs 10,000 crore, but only 20% of the proposals are in the implementation phase,” said a senior BBMP official.
The cabinet, at his meeting, also gave its principal approval for projects to the hampered streets that connected Kempegowda International Airport and Tumakuru.
These projects include building four parallel lanes with flyovers on the airport road from Hebbal.
While three flyover lines (to appear on the existing western side) will be dedicated to vehicles bonded airports, one path will join the road to Tumakuru.

The cabinet gave approval to take development work in urban local agencies at a cost of Rs 3,885 Crore for the next five years.
“Under this program, class I Corporations will get each Rs 40 Crore, each class II RS 30 Crore, each city council RS 10 Crore, and the Panchayats City will get Rs 5 Crore,” said Madhuswamy.
