Sydney: The Australian Formula One Grand Prix and MotoGP race was called on Tuesday for the second year in a row due to entry restrictions and logistical problems caused by a pandemic, officials said.
Chairman of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation Paul said he was “very disappointed” in a statement.
“We appreciate the challenges of Australia to face restrictions on international travel today and the importance of vaccination,” he added.
Formula One Stefano Domenicali said on Tuesday that he remained confident during the race season it would still be possible despite the cancellation of the Australian Grand Prix.
“Even though it was disappointing we would not compete in Australia this season, we were sure we could give the 23 race season in 2021 and we had a number of options to advance,” he said in a statement.
