New Delhi: Former JNU student leader Umar Khalid on Thursday told Delhi’s court that the witness statement recorded by the police in the case of a riot conspiracy “made”.
Khalid and several others have been ordered under the activity of violating law (prevention) Act (UPA), strict anti-terror law, and is accused of being “mastermind” of the riots that have left 53 dead and more than 700 injured.
Her plea bail debated before the additional session of Judge Amitabh Rawatt, Senior Advocate Trideep Pais, who represented Khalid, said that the statement of the witness “was not consistent with each other, and would not bear the legal examination.” He reads a statement of one of the witnesses and said, “Even a 12-year-old child will know this is a fabrication.
They (prosecution) must be ashamed.
It doesn’t even damage physical evidence.” He added, “I recently watched a movie titled ‘The Trial of Chicago 7 ‘where the state witnesses have planned to become state witnesses.
” The lawyer handled the allegations flattened by the police against Khalid that he and his father attended the protest organized by the Indian Welfare Party in Mantar, where children and women were taken on the bus.
“I didn’t even admit that but advocating people had to protest CAA, how was it offended?” He said and concluded his argument.
He had started his argument on a guarantee request on August 23.
Prasad Prasad specifically began the argument on behalf of the police on January 5, 2022.
Police Delhi previously said that Plea Bail did not have services and it would show the case of the prime facie against it before the court randomized in the case.
In the last trial, Khalid, through his lawyer, said that advocacy for laws such as ACT CAA citizenship amendments was not a crime and that the police pressed the witnesses to provide a statement.
