New Delhi: A 28-year-old man was arrested with the help of a face recognition system because he was suspected of being stolen near the Khan market in Lutyens’ Delhi, police said on Monday.
A senior police officer said that the defendant was very reluctant to express his previous involvement and revealed his name as Sonu.
Then, the police used a face recognition system (FRS) and identified as Karan alias Sonu Kumar from the e-beat book’s criminal database.
The defendant was the Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh, the police said, added that the stolen article was worth Lakh Rupee had recovered from his ownership.
According to the police, the theft cases were reported at the Luxury location of Ravinder Nagar and Pandara Road near the Khan Market in Lutyens’ Delhi.
The modus operandi is to target a locked house from the outside.
To analyze the previous incident through technical supervision, the police knew that the defendant used to go to a locked house.
He also made theft in three more houses before from the same area, the officer said.
“The police found that the defendant had a robbery in a house in Ravinder Nagar between 16:33 pm until 17:00.
He entered the house from the adjacent home, which was locked.
He also tried to break the key, but it didn’t work,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (said New Delhi) Deepak Yadav.
The police saw a man roaming the modern Junior Hospital, Humayun Road and stopped him and looked for his bag, which contained the screw driver, clamp, two home breaking tools and four iron blade cutters, DCP said, said DCP.
Initially, he did not reveal his identity.
Then, the police used FRS and identified him.
During the interrogation, he confirmed that he had previously been involved in nine cases of theft and other theft, the officer said.
The defendant began working as a white worker in the Ministry of Public Works (CPWD) in the Sarojini Nagar area in 2010.
Once he received the work of Whitewash in the Government Housing Complex.
From there, he learned that breaking the key was not difficult, police said.
He was married and had two children living in their home village.
He also stated that he was out of prison eight months ago and began working as a laborer in Dehradun, Uttarakhand, but because of the Pandemic Covid-19, he could not find any work, they said.
After that, he came to Delhi to find work and began living in his relatives residence throughout the India Institute of Medical Science (AIIM).
He could not find any work, followed which he began to do theft, added the police.
