Gurgaon: Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) plans to overlay, repair and change the stretch between Sohna Chowk and DDR Chowk in the Jail Road in the second half of 2022.
The project will cost almost Rs 91.21 lakh and it takes four months to complete it, according to GMDA.
“This project will include repairs, overlays, and road improvement, and the installation of reflective road studs, solar cat eyes, and mandatory signs and information,” said a senior GMDA official who did not want to be named.
For now, GMDA has floated the tender for the job.
The project, according to GMDA, also includes a three-year defective cum maintenance period.
“We have floated tenders, inviting offers via e-tender.
After the project is given, the work will begin on the ground,” the official said.
The long stretch of around 800 meters in Lama Gurgaon, connects several leading government offices, including the Police Commissioner Office, Dakshin Haryana Bijli Office Vitam Nigam (DHBVN), and the Office of the Public Works Department (PWD).
In addition, this area accommodates the Nehru Stadium, conscious Bazar, Jama Mosque, several hotels, shops, and market complexes.
Civil hospitals are also close.
Commuter, who often visited the area, welcomed his plan.
“There is no doubt that it is not just this stretch but some of the others in this gurgaon need to improve.
The number of people who visit the mosque, aware of the bazaar and all government offices in the area are very large.
They all tend to often visit this road, so that the graduation will be help Massive, “said Rakesh Sharma, who works in a shop near the Nehru Stadium.
However, commuters are also worried about GMDA’s ability to complete the project in the specified period.
“My only concern is the extent to which commuters will be affected when the work is on and how much time is needed to solve it.
The authorities here say four months but then take one year to complete the work.
If it happens in this case, the whole plan can Back boomerang and worsen the commuter problems here, “Sharma added.
