Guwahati: In a strange event, the police team on Wednesday night damaged the racket involved in publishing educational, birth and death documents and income documents after they conducted a search at the residence in Madhupur in Nagaon Regency in connection with theft of the case.
Police recovered more than 10,000 fake certificates issued in the name of the Secondary Education Council Assam (SEMA), the State Education Council of Madrassa (SMEB), Gauhati University and various schools and colleges in other districts.
The owner of the house, Maqbool Hussain (54), a resident of Madhupur, was arrested on Thursday for alleged forgery for cheating purposes, using false documents as the original government stamp, transmitter criminal conspiracy.
However, his accomplice Khaleq managed to escape.
