Fake Covid Medication Websites in Hyd: Conmen Scatter dozens

HYDERABAD: In case you need a couple vials of Amphotericin B shot or oxygen concentrator on the near ones, then think twice before purchasing them from unverified e-commerce websites, Hyderabad authorities cautioned on Thursday after discovering a nationally racket of fraudsters duping unsuspecting buyers.
In the last month, folks searching to get Covid-19-related medications and medical equipment dropped more than 50 lakh into fraudsters working from Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and other northern Indian towns.
So far 21 cases are registered in town and analyses are still underway to unravel the racket.
In 1 case, fraudsters took 13 lakh as a progress payment for providing oxygen concentrators to businessman Rambabu of all Dilsukhnagar in May.
Rachakonda ACP S Harinath stated the sufferer hunted for oxygen concentrators within an e-commerce site with a goal to cash in on the need for oxygen concentrators.
“The fraudster requested for Rs 13 lakh within an improvement to provide 25 to 30 oxygen concentrators.
To convince the sufferer that the machines are all set to be sent, the accused shipped different invoices and delivery receipts during WhatsApp and following the cash was moved, he ceased responding to the sufferer,” the ACP said.
Cheats also have tricked people that were desperately searching for medication to deal with black fungus.
On May 25, a sufferer out of Gachibowli lodged a complaint by Cyberabad police stating he wished to get injections to deal with black fungus in the favorite medical shop, but acquired at a fraudster’s handson.
“A man promised me that the medication is going to be sent through courier on receiving the payment.
The fraudster required Rs 8.32 lakh to get 60 vials of this injection and after the payment has been made, there wasn’t any answer from the accused,” the victim advised Cyberabad authorities.
Another entrepreneur, who conducts a well known clothing shop in Jubilee hills has been duped of Rs 1.1 lakh from fraudsters posing as a few medical center operators, supplying paid Legislation at business organizations.
“They provided vaccination for many employees for Rs 1.1 lakh.
The victim maintained and moved Rs 1.1 lakh into the bank accounts of those accused.
Since the fraudsters ceased reacting to the calls following the cash move, he lodged a complaint with us” Hyderabad cybercrime ACP KVM Prasad explained.
Police identified the fraudster functioned from Chennai.
Another gang working from Bangalore duped personal worker Nikhil Reddy of both SR Nagar and author Awasti R Secunderabad of Rs 4.5 lakh and Rs 1.29 lakh respectively by promising to provide Amphotericin B and Posaconazole medications to deal with black fungus.
“A group working in North India, siphoned off 2.96 lakh in the bank accounts of author Vasant Rao Patil of all Ghansi bazaar by providing to run RT-PCR evaluations for all of the family at home.
The fraudsters delivered UPI link requesting the victim to click it to get payment of a little amount and siphoned his cash through multiple trades,” the ACP said.
Fraudsters also tricked five businessmen in town of Rs 26 lakh using a bogus promise to provide oxygen concentrators, guaranteed relatives of 2 patients carrying Rs 1 lakh each of those promising to provide Tocilizumab shot and tricked two vacationers by promising to provide surgical masks and gloves for around Rs 4 lakh and Rs 1.1 lakh eachyear.
