Pune: Some conspiracy theories can be found floating on social media.
And during a pandemic, the wrong information can prove to be very disturbing.
One of the most strange claims is the relationship between Covid and 5G networks.
Conspiracy theorists, in many posts, said that the Covid-19 vaccine was only another effort by the world government to connect people to a 5G network.
Such claims have been found circulating on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and WhatsApp.
According to news reports, claiming that “nanoparticles in vaccines” are used to connect people with a 5G network, have circulated on the message board and blog since last year.
Claims continued to cause real-world damage when in April 2020, more than 80 5G towers in the UK burned.
The police added that at least 40 employees from the service provider were also attacked.
Verified Service Times has taken a message that drives 5G theory.
One message urges social media users to help stop testing 5G “to save lives”.
The analysis by the New York Times last year found that 5G conspiracy theory, during Covid, was driven by at least 487 Facebook communities, 84 Instagram accounts and 52 Twitter accounts.
The newspaper said that on YouTube, the 10 most popular 5G conspiracy videos, posted in March, have been seen “more than 5.8 million times”.
The 5G-Coronavirus conspiracy has since been found on social networks in more than 30 countries, he said.
