Family Desagati Holds 411 Private Dasara Durbar

Haveri: Family Desagati in Handiganoor Village, Haveri Regency has carried out private Darbar during Dasara on the Mysuru Wadiars route.
The family of Handiganur Mamaledesai has preserved this tradition for four centuries.
The family is one of the Samsantas from Sultanate Bijapur Bahumani.
This year, it was Dasara Darar 411 Darbar led by the 17th Gadi Maalika (same position as Wadiyar) Aravind MamaLedesai with rituals.
However, this year, because Covid-19 and the election of suspension, the family celebrates a simple Darbar in the village on Friday.

They returned through the main streets of the village after exchanging Banni with villagers.
They did Durga Pooja on the occasion of Navaratri and Ayudha Pooja.
“Our family’s ancestors had held a private Darbar for Dasara for more than four centuries and I continued the tradition.
Our Darbar began with the famous Mysore Dasara.
We have tried to preserve our traditions and will transfer it to the next generation,” said Aravind Mamaledesai .
“The villagers involve enthusiastically in private Darbar because they are loyal to our family and they extend their support to this day,” he added.
“The family of Mamaledesai Handiganurs does not only contribute to our culture and traditions but has also participated in the movement of freedom.
Previous Maiutas Family Like Bullappa and Siddalingappa Mamaledesai have fought against England before independence,” said Ms.
Chandrashekhar, a local history teacher.
He also noted that Mamaledesai family members lived in Wade where the TV series ‘Moodala Mane’ was shot.
“The Desagati family also serves the community through educational institutions and provides free education to students.
It has also contributed hundreds of hectares of land to many educational institutions in the old district of Dharwad,” said a teacher.
“We have been loyal to the family of MamaDesai for years because they contribute to culture, education, and also the community regardless of religion and caste,” said MH Hirathan, a villager.
