Bengaluru: Record Kannada Writer and Poet, Professor Chandrashekar Patil (83), died after a health problem related to age in Bengaluru on Monday morning.
Patil is also known as ‘Champa’.
Champa comes from a hatimuttur village in Haveri.
He has played an important role in Pro Kannada’s protest, including the famous Gokak protest in the 1980s in which a successful battle was included in obtaining the status of the first language for Kannada.
Champa is the president of the Kannada Development Board and Kannada Sahitya Parisat.
According to family sources, the last ceremony will be carried out in Bengaluru on Monday night.
