Brest: The roadside audience that caused a massive stack during the first stage of the Tour de France in June on Thursday in terms of the drivers workers said it would help increase awareness of cycling races.
The French woman, who has not been named after, sends one fallen cyclist – with dozens falling to the ground as a consequence – because the big cardboard sign she holds on a television camera, facing away from cyclists.
The young woman, who according to the prosecutor felt ashamed of what she did, was accused of unconsciously cause injury and put the lives of others at risk and faced a good and potential prison sentence.
“The public is the key to cycling races, it must remain like that, but it must be done by respecting the physical integrity of the driver,” said Romuald Palao, a lawyer for the CPA of the cyclist association, which is a trial party.
“This case represents what can happen with people who want to take their own center stage with pictures, videos.
It must be done with a minimum of common sense and this is not the problem.” A lawyer for the defendant refused to comment on the trial, which took place in the city of Brest France West.
It is not clear whether the verdict will be sent right after hearing on Thursday or later.
Tour de France attracted its own lawsuit, said security at the race was key but the case exploded outside the proportion after triggering media madness.
