Farmers are looking for concrete plans to reduce human conflicts

Coimbatore: Farmers from Coimbatore, Tirupur, Erode, Namakkal and Nilgiris have been looking for the Minister of Agriculture to come up with a concrete plan to reduce human conflicts in the region.
They expressed their views at the consultative meeting held by the MRK Minister of Agriculture Panneerselvam in the city on Wednesday to seek input from farmers for separate agricultural budget preparations this year.
The Minister of Forestry K Ramachandran is also present.
Farmers show that plants suffer broad damage due to elephant intrusion and wild boar in several villages along the edge of the forest.
In addition to damage to plants, villagers also in constant fears are attacked by wild animals.
Ramachandran convinced the farmers that his steps such as digging more trenches to prevent elephant movements to villages will be taken.
He said that the points where elephants will often be identified and the steps will be taken to minimize conflict.
The farmers also urged the state government to end the pollution of the Noyyal River by going down a lot on those who took out waste.
Said that the threat of water shortages towering above the region every time there is an uncertain monsoon, farmers suggest that surplus water on the Noyyal River, Parambikulamp and Aliyar Dam during the rainy season can be filled in lakes and ponds.
In addition to the fact that water saved can be used later, ground water will also increase because of storage in the pool.
Apart from, the farmers also look for market prices that are suitable for Agri products, utilizing workers under agriculture, additional subsidies for fertilizers, free nutritional supplements for livestock.
Panneerselvam who gave the patient to hear the speech of the farmers said that he would take their demands with the knowledge of the minister of chairman and take the necessary actions.
The goal of the government is to make Tamil Numero Uno on agriculture and turn agriculture into a favorable business for farmers.
For this purpose that the minister’s chairman has announced a separate budget for agriculture, he said.
“The government executes several schemes to build Agri infrastructure, design plant and regional strategies and increase plant production, ” he said.
Panneerselvam said that he held such consultation meetings to gather input from farmers.
Farmers can also feed their views in the Uzhavan application , he said.
