Ghaziabad: Farmers stop the goods train in Modinagar on Monday as part of their ‘Rail Roko’ agitation, demanding the dismissal of the Union Minister for the house of Ajay Mishra in connection with the violence of Lakhimpur Kheri.
Although the protest remained almost peaceful in the district, the Train Protection Forces (RPF) and Government Train Police (GRP) had made adequate security settings at the Ghaziabad train station and other small stations.
In Modinagar, the farmers stopped the goods train for about an hour, because three trains that would go to Delhi Via Ghaziabad was delayed about one and a half hours.
However, officials said that there was no effort made to stop the train anywhere in the city of Ghaziabad.
Around 11 o’clock in the morning, Bharatiya Kisan Union members had begun to reach the Modinagar train station and tried to stop the express train away from Ghaziabad to Meerut.
After his departure, the freight train was stopped when farmers rode on the machine and raised anti-government slogans.
Around 12:30 a.m., the farmers left the railway and train items were allowed to continue.
Jagtar Singh Bajwa, a member of the up-gate protest site committee, called successful agitation, but apologized to passengers for the inconvenience caused by them.
“We have received a positive response from all over the country.
The protest remains peaceful.
About 40 trains canceled and 300 trains were affected throughout India.
However, we apologized to people because of the inconvenience caused,” he said.
