Pune: Accident Price of Capsicum Farmers from Indapur Tehsil to discard their products on Pune-Solapur Highway on Sunday Morning.
They claim that wholesale traders refuse to buy their products even at RS2 per kg even though there is a request.
One of the farmers, Navnath Khanda Rajguru (32), sold its free products for two hours in the city of Indapur on Sunday morning before throwing it on the highway.
“People were surprised by my steps,” he told Ti on Monday by telephone.
“But even after that I can only sell 10kg capsicum as buyers purchased in small quantities, although urging them to buy in large quantities,” he added.
“I have brought 1,200 kg of capsicum to sell it to a merchant.
However, he said there was no request for it.
I even urged him to buy products at RS2 per kg, hoping to restore at least transportation costs.
But he refused.
Then, I sold it for free , but I can’t empty the vehicle.
This makes me more frustrated and I throw it on the road, “he said.
Navnath has cultivated capsicum in three hectares of land.
He claimed that he had invested around RS5 Lakh Capital to reap harvest.
“I like business pandal.
But I have to close it because there is no command from the customer because of the pandemic restriction.
That’s when I decided to grow capsicum on the farm, hoping to get a good return.
But my plan has appeared,” he added.
Capsicum Farmers Pappu Devark from Ramwadi Village claimed that he also had to throw at least 50kg capsicum on the highway when he could not sell products in the local market in Indapur three days ago.
“Unless the government decides the price of the minimum support (MSP) for vegetables, farmers like we will continue to suffer.
We do not have logistical facilities and support for supplying products to housing communities and other places,” said Dinesh Dinesh Kute from Abhangwadi Village.
“We received two tons of capsicum in the last four days.
Prices have fallen in the range of RS4 to RS6 per kg,” said Babasaheb Bibve, head while the vegetable section on the market page.
Vilas Bhujbal, President of the Association of Commission Agency at the Market Yard, “last year, farmers got a decent level.
One kg of capsicum is sold in the range of Rs15 to RS20 per kg.
Thus, many farmers cultivate large amounts of capsicum this year.
Therefore , vegetable supply on the market doubled the average, which leads to an accident.
