PIRMOKAM (KATIHAR): The 32-hour incessant rain and stormy wind in the aftermath of cyclone Yaas have broken up the backbone of farmers of the panchayat at the Falka cube of Katihar district.
Farmers of Purnia and Araria will also be struck since their cash crops such as maize and jute are ruined as a result of waterlogging from farmland.
The kisan salahkars of these panchayats concerned have begun assessing the harm caused by the status or harvested maize harvest in Purnia branch.
The farmers, then, have been expecting that the government might declare reimbursement.
Typically, maize is harvested and marketed at the mandis of Gulabbag and Gedabadito the regional traders using linkage with all the mandis, by mid-May.
But, labor shortage as a result of their migration into Punjab postponed the procedure and forced farmers exposed to cyclone.
The narrative of Guddi, a farmer in Chandwa village, is still showing.
At the Wednesday night, Guddi had seen the piles of sterile maize’bhutta (cobs)’ using their ears/husks pealed, which he’d left at the plots of soil near Nahaki village, also believing that the cyclone would be feeble.
He returned to his village, so slightly satisfied he will get excellent returns to the maize he’d cultivated.
On Friday afternoon he found the heaps of cobs were submerged in water or’d thigh-deep gathered rainwater.
Many different farmers at Purnia, Araria and Katihar districts also confronted similar expertise.
The states were the exact same in six cities of Pirmokam panchayat — Pirmokam, Telghi, Barbaria, Nahaki, Darmahi and Janakpur.
