Bathinda: Senior Farmer Leader Rakesh Tikait has said the leaders of farmers who plan for the election contest should not be brought to the committee for intentionally along with the nominees appointed by the government at the minimum support price (MSP).
When the election campaign will be a priority of such leaders, they may not be able to concentrate on serious discussions, said Tikait, adding Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) will not be conceived by farmer leaders who fight for elections.
According to a reliable source, the name of the senior leader of the Balbir Farmer Singh Rajewal is almost complete for the MSP Committee of Punjab.
Now Rajewal is the face in front of Sanyukt’s politics and Morcha, which was formed by nearly 20 farmer groups from Punjab.
Speaking to Ti by telephone, Tikait said, “When the election was in the corner of Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, and some farmer leaders were trying their luck in the election.
We want that leaders to the election arena should not be part of the committee proposed for MSP though The final decision will be taken by Sanyukt Kisan Morcha.
Election preservation leaders will be more worried about the campaign and in such circumstances, discussions for MSP may not be on the priority of the leaders “.

Tikait said the SKM was not fighting for the election and would not let anyone use banners for elections.
“The problem will be discussed in the next SKM meeting on January 15 and it will also be discussed why so far the central government has not moved further on the formation committee for MSP”.
Tikait also said that after achieving a historic victory in agriculture laws, farmers were on a four-month vacation from SKM and now they will be contacted after the election process ends and during this time the farmers are free to make their choice decisions, even to oppose the election, but SKM will not be part of the election politics and will not be conceived by farmer leaders in elections.
