New Delhi: Farmers from 22 countries will participate in the protests planned outside the parliament from July 22 to demand controversial agricultural law and for legal guarantees to MSP, said Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) on Thursday.
The body umbrella of more than 40 farmers has planned that around 200 farmers will protest outside parliament every day during the Monsun session.
Leaders have not commented on whether they have permission to hold a demonstration outside of parliament but has stated that protests will be “peaceful”.
“Samyukta Kisan Morcha’s call for March parliament from July 22 to August 13 has received an extraordinary response and enthusiastic about the whole country,” he said in a statement.
Besides Punjab and Haryana, a large number of farmers from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan will participate In protest, SKM said the special march by women on July 26 and August 9 will also see great participation from all over India, including the northeastern state, he said.
“Parliaments will see farmers from all of India marching in a way that is disciplined for parliament to do their demands and hear their voices,” SKM said.
Expanding their support for the farmer’s movement, Punjabi artist, including Gul Panag, Amitoj Mann and Babbu Mann, appeared on Thursday for protesters camping on the Singhu border, the statement said.
They also appealed to Indian citizens to expand their solidarity with a farmer’s movement.
“It should be noted that all parts of the state came out to support farmers and it was unfortunate that the trade union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not do justice for farmers and stand with them,” said the statement.
Thousands of farmers from all over the country have nervous on the border of Delhi against the three agricultural laws that they claim will get rid of the minimum support price system, leaving them at the mercy of the big corporation.
More than 10 rounds of talks with the government, which has projected laws on major agricultural reforms, failed to break the deadlock between the two parties.
