Farmers have the right to protest but cannot block roads without limits: SC

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Thursday said that farmers have the right to protest but cannot block the road without time limit.
Judge S Kaul and C T Ravikumar asked Samyukta Kisan Morcha, a farming body umbrella, whether they had the right to block the road.
SKM answers to say road management can be done better by the police and if the police cannot manage it, let the farmers protest at RAM Lila Ground or Jantar Mantar in the national capital.
During the trial, SG Tushar Mehta quoted the Violence of the Republican Day and said the incident occurred even though the trade union farmers provide business that there will be no violence during the tractor rally on January 26.
The Supreme Court has submitted SKM and farmers to submit their response in four weeks to the petition who sought the removal of protesting farmers from the road.
The Apex court will now hear the problem on December 7 this month, SC has questioned the reason behind the farmers who continue their protests, including blocking national highways, when there are no controversial agriculture laws that are applicable because all have been stored in delays during 18 months in January by a court after the government guarantee of the effect.
On September 30, another bench from SC headed by Justice Sanjay Kaul has quoted its own rules that prohibit protesters from blocking public roads and said farmers’ complaints can be overcome by parliament or justice but they cannot be seen to cause harassment sit-in Dharna Highways that hamper traffic to and from Delhi to Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.
