Ghaziabad: A 32-year-old farmer died of an electric shock after he came into contact with high voltage wire on Sunday morning at Ghaziabad’s Masturi.
After the incident, the locals in the area put their bodies on the road and stopped the traffic movements for more than two hours on the NH-9.
They demanded that the electricity department fix the height of the wire.
According to the police, the deceased was identified as Nitin Kumar, a resident of Masuri Village.
Ramveer, his father, said his son went to the farm around 9 in the morning.
“When he returned home, he came into contact with 1,100KV wire and he received a surprise.
He was taken to the nearest hospital where the doctor declared him to die.” Angry over the accident, people put the body nitin in the tractor at NH-9 near Bihar Dental College and launched a protest.
Immediately, officers from administration and police reached the place and convinced them that the problem would be resolved.
The villagers claimed to have written several times to the Department of Power’s officials to increase the height of the line but in vain.
Naval Kumar, Pradhan in Nurpur Village, said there was no hearing held.
The electricity department doesn’t even listen to their complaints, he said.
“Some incidents of people experiencing shocks have occurred in the past.
We have met the Department of Power’s officials and they assure us that the problem will be corrected soon.
There is no one done so far,” Pradhan said.
Shailendra Pratap Singh, Sho of Masuri Police Station, told TOI that they got information about congestion of social media and commuter.
“Immediately, we reached and tried to solve this problem.
After some time, they took off the body and tractor from the road.
After this, we continued the vehicle movement.
It took about an hour for the situation to be normal,” he said.
A power department official said that a team will be sent to check the height and this problem will be resolved.
An administrative official said RS 5 Lakh will be given to the Nitin family immediately as compensation from the administration.
