Etawah: Fighting to pay for his bank loan, a 33-year-old farmer allegedly committed suicide after suffocating his wife in Etawah District on Saturday, police said.
Farmers Rajneesh Kumar DuBey first killed his wife Kanchan, 25 in his house in Nagla Nariya Village under the police station Jaswant Nagar Kotwali and then consumed several toxic substances, said Sho Sudhir Kumar.
Dubey rushed to Saifai Medical College where he died on that day, he said, added that the body was sent for post mortem checks.
According to villagers, Dubey has taken loans from banks and has even sold some of the land to pay for it, said Sho.
He was under tension because of his debt, Sho quoted the villagers as told the police.
