Coimbatore: Farmers have urged the district administration to strictly enforce plastic item prohibitions using a single, while increasing the problem of traders and business actors in line using plastic items carefully prohibited during a complaint meeting held in the Collectorate District here on Friday.

“Livestock often eats food and sambar rest in plastic bags and develop health problems.
We have no other choice, but to spend a lot of money to care for livestock.” Other farmers say plastic waste also clogs irrigation channels.
“Threats have fallen when the prohibition is strictly enforced before the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic.
Now officials do not take it seriously, traders and business people business actors use plastic items that are prohibited generously.” The farmers also opposed the planned highway department National to put the bypass path through Annur and suggest other options such as the construction of a ravine in Kinathukadavu and expansion of Sathy-Coimbatore road.
They demanded the Ministry of Forestry to increase compensation for damaged plants in wild animal attacks and pest attacks.
“While we lose a lot of plants to attack wild animals, we have never compensated adequately.” District Forest Officer T K Ashok Kumar told the farmers that they had received Rs 1.59 Crore from the state government and they would soon be compensated.
