TRICHY: Water Discharged from Stanley reservoir at Mettur on Saturday Attained the Upper Anicut (Mukkombu) round the Cauvery at Trichy Approximately 5am on Tuesday.
Even the sluices of the Mettur reservoir have been set for kuruvai cultivation in delta districts from chief minister M K Stalin on Saturday morning.
It required three days to get the water to achieve Upper Anicut, awarded the absorption of water to the riverbed.
Elated farmers at Trichy gave a rousing welcome by giving flowers to the water.
PWD officials stated that the water level stood in 94.86 ft at Mettur reservoir while the outflow of water in Upper Anicut had been 2,317 cusecs.
The water flow to the Upper Anicut would stabilise following the continuous release of water from Mettur reservoir,” they stated.
On Tuesday, 10,000 cusecs of water has been discharged in Mettur reservoir although the inflow had been 961 cusecs.
PWD officials said that the water may attain Grand Anicut (Kallanai) from Tuesday night from where it’ll be introduced to the tail-end regions of the delta districts on Wednesday morning.
