Little Rock: A police officer at the Hospital Arkansas is fatally shot a man who has a gun outside the entrance to the emergency department, the authorities said.
The shooting took place Monday afternoon outside the University of Arkansas for hospital medical science in Little Rock, Arkansas state police said.
Bobby Hollingshead, 59, from Sheridan, stepped out of a truck and told UAM police officers to stay away, said the state police.
An UAMS officer fired Hollingshead after Hollingshead lifted the gun, said the state police.
Hollingshead was taken in the hospital for care but then died, said the state police.
The name of the officer who shot him was not immediately released.
The state police agent was investigating and will continue their findings to the prosecutor to determine whether the shooting was justified, the authorities said.
