Idukki: Exactly a year ago that Shanmughanan’s son Dineshkumar (22) and Nithish Kumar (20) went to Pettimudy to celebrate a friend’s birthday.
This is the last time he saw his son.
Even though Nitish’s body was taken the next day, Dinesh’s body had not been and Shanmughanadan had done a desperate search for his son’s body.
But on Thursday, he said he ended the search.
For six months after Landslip in Pettimudy, even after the authorities ended the search operation, he traveled 23 km almost every day from Munnar to a landslide site and searched among the debris for his missing debris.
He refused to do rituals usually held 40 days after death for his son but last week his mind finally accepted the truth, he said.
“I went to Rameshwaram and did all the rituals.
He will not return or there is an opportunity to get his body,” he said, adding that he would reach Pettimudy on Friday to do some rituals built for the victims.
to mark the first warning tragedy.
Shanmughanadan said he had not received compensation announced for relatives of missing people.
Even though four missing people are included in the list of dead people, the certificate has not been issued.
“I have approached income officials several times.
They said they had submitted letters to the officials and that the command needed to be issued,” he said.
