Kanpur: The girl’s father, who has accused retired Inspector Dinesh Tripathi rape, died in a mysterious state on Monday night.
Relatives took the body to his home village to do his last ritual, but once the police found out, they reached the village and took the body in their detention and sent it for post-mortem examination.
The last rite will take place only after post-mortem examination, the police official said.
Retired Inspector Dinesh Tripathi, a resident of Doagraj, who was posted on Kanpur for a long time, living in the Chake Police Station area.
He has hired the girl’s father at his house as a guard.
On August 11, 2020, he allegedly raped the 11-year-old caregiver.
The girl in his statement given in court alleged that the retired inspector had raped four times in the past, and retired inspector had been in jail since then.
However, the 42-year-old victim’s father died on Monday night.
The victim’s family, who initially belonged to the village in the Sarsaul area in the district, brought the body to his home village to perform the last ritual.
To find out about the incident, the Chakeeri police reached the village, took the body in their ownership and sent it for post-mortem examination.
But the family members of rape victims claimed that the victim’s father, who was unhealthy for the past few days, died of excessive drinking.
ACP Cantonment Mrigank Shekhar Pathak told reporters that further action will be taken on the basis of post-mortem reports.
“The Chakei police reached the village of origin on Monday night, took the body to their custody and then sent him to post-mortem examination,” police official said.
