New Delhi: Fatigue and “A little” forced fever Bintang Javelin Thrower Neeraj Chopra to leave the middle of the welcome ceremony in his village near Panipat, organized to celebrate a historic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics.
The 23-year-old Chopra, who has made a busy schedule since returning to the country on the last Monday after winning the first Indian Olympic medal in athletics, has rested to give a very necessary break.
A source close to Chopra told PTI that star athletes must be fine after a good break and he left the function as a precaution.
Chopra has attended various felication functions in Delhi.
Finally, he returned home in his home village Khandra, about 15 km from Panipat, on Tuesday until the reception raised the local population.
“Many people arise and he reaches the Welcome Function Venue near his village in a Cavalcade.
It takes time to reach the function venue,” said the source.
“But in the middle into the function he felt tired and began to experience a little fever.
So he left his function and had rested in a nearby house,” said the source.
“There were a few rumors that he had been taken to the hospital.

After that, Chopra developed high fever and missed felicitation functions organized by the Punjab government and Haryana on Thursday and Friday.
He was tested for Covid-19 but returned negative.
He, however, managed to reach high tea organized by President RAM Nath Kovind for the Indian Olympic contingent.
On Sunday, Chopra was among the Olympians Tokyo who attended the function of independence day in the red fortress.
At night, he is cynosure of all eyes on the felicitation function organized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA).
