LONDON: British Parliament Members roast Facebook on Thursday about how to deal with online safety as European countries move to control the strength of social media companies.
Representatives from Google, Twitter and Tiktok will also be questioned by the parliamentary committee that examines the draft law to crack down on dangerous online content.
Antigone Davis, Head of Facebook’s global safety, maintaining the handling of the company’s internal research on how Instagram can endanger adolescents, including encouraging eating or even suicide, in the midst of questioning.
“Where is the money stop?” Asked Damian Collins, a member of the member who led the committee.
“This is a company full of experts, and we all work together to make this decision,” Davis said.
He added that “we don’t have business interest in providing an unsafe experience.” Davis also said FB was interested in regulations that gave public officials who were selected as the ability to request company accountability.
He said he did not agree with critics that FB strengthened hate on the grounds that the company uses artificial intelligence to remove the polarization content.
