New Delhi: Facebook and Group Company Instagram attracted as much as 3.2 crores.
Post users on the month of May 15 this year, and this ranges from spam to adult nudity to intimidation and harassment, and content around violent and graphical content.
However, there is no data given to criticism of government orders, or demand by political parties.
The company released data in accordance with new IT rules (YouTube and Google Koo have come out with their numbers), and said that these numbers are mostly based on content marked by their algorithms that deliver content that violates the law.
Then this month, the company will also release a report where they will provide numbers where the content is dropped, especially after complaints by the user.
The figure for the WhatsApp group messaging platform will also be released at that time.
The majority of content, or 3 crore posts, removed by Facebook, while for Instagram, the take-down number is around 20 lakh.
Interestingly, spam is the largest category with 2.5 crore posts that are removed from Facebook.
The second highest is’ violent and graphic content ‘which saw the elimination of 25 lakh posts, while adult nudity and sexual activity’ had 18 lakh poss which was revealed.
Other categories where Facebook removes voluntary content is’ suicide and self injury (5.9 lakh), ‘hatred speech’ (3.1 lakh); ‘Bullying and abuse’ (1.18 lakh); ‘Dangerous and individual organizations’ (1.8 lakh); and ‘arranged items’ – drugs and firearms (9,700).
For Instagram, which has relatively young users, suicide and self-injury to the maximum take-down at 7 lakh, followed by violent and graphic content that sees 6.7 lakh post removal, and adult nudity and sexual activity (4.9 lakh ).
While the top social media organizations have begun to provide their monthly reports specifically designed for India, Twitter – which has been involved in massive confrontations with the ministry of the new IT rules – have not provided a timeline.
Although government officials were heard convinced that American micro-blogging giants would give their reports on various parameters immediately, there was no word from the company about this.
The government has mandated a number of regulatory submissions in social media companies as part of the new rules which mainly aim to empower users and help them prevent abuse and abuse on the platform.
