WASHINGTON: The Federal Investigation Bureau (FBI) on Saturday declassifies several documents related to the 9/11 attacks in the US attack.
These documents also bring information related to alleged Saudi government support for the attack.
The documents were released after the executive order by President Joe Biden, CNN reported.
The newly declassified document came from 2016 and provided details of the FBI’s work to investigate alleged logistics support that Saudi’s consular officials and Saudi intelligence agents suspected in Los Angeles provided at least two men who hijacked the plane on September 11, 2001.
Previously on Wednesday, the Saudi Embassy in Washington expressed acceptance of the release of the FBI document and also said that “all the allegations that Saudi Arabia was involved in the September 11 attacks categorically”.
Biden’s executive order came after more than 1,600 people affected by the attack on sending a letter asking him to hold back not to go to Ground Zero in New York City to mark a 20-year anniversar unless he releases information, CNN reported.
Meanwhile, the US President on Saturday also commemorated the life of 2,977 people who lost their lives 20 years ago in a terrible tragedy.
“To the family of 2,977 people from more than 90 countries were killed on September 11, 2001, in New York City, Arlington, Virginia and Shanksville, Pennsylvania and a thousand more injured.
America commemorates you and your loved ones,” said in video messages posted on the US President’s Twitter account.
On September 11, 2001, the United States faced the deadliest terrorist attack in its history.
More than 3,000 people were killed in a terror attack.
In the range of only 102 minutes, the two Towers of the New York World Trade Center collapsed after the plane was hijacked by al-Qaeda operators crashing into them.
