FCRA approval for 6 suspended NGOs

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home already for the past one and a half months suspend the six NGO foreign funding license, which includes Christian evangelist groups and Islamic charities allegedly related to religious conversion or misautilization of funds, quoting violations of ACT’s foreign contributions, 2010.
With this action, the total number of organizations whose FCRA registration has been suspended so far this year has reached nine.
While the FCRA license from Markazul Ighasathil Kairiyathil Hindiyya, a large NGO based in Kerala related to the Sunni leader who influenced Sheikh Awoobacker Ahmed, was canceled on August 27th on “misautilization” funds, confession errors, and non-submission of the 2019 annual FCRA refund 20, Community Empowerment Organizations based in Odisha and the Ministry of Rahmat Heavenly and the Russ Foundation based in Madurai orders for suspension orders under FCRA on August 28.
One Director of Russ Foundation Home was arrested in 2019 for sexually allegedly attacking the 10-year-old inmates.
In July, the Main Al Hasan Main Education and Welfare Organization based in Lucknow saw FCRA nods suspended for alleged activities related to the conversion of forced religion.
Haryana-based Write Guardian for the welfare of education also has a deferred FCRA license for 180 days, although the reason is unclear.
Previously on June 8, 2021, the FCRA registration of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, an NGO led by a famous commentator in Sanjoy Hazarika, was suspended, as well as the Bengaluru Wildlife Study Center on April 8, 2021.
Another NGO evangelist who has a foreign funding license suspended is the Spirit Ministry Kudus, who operates out of Andhra Pradesh.
The suspension of FCRA registration disables an NGO or association accepting foreign contributions except with the previous ministry nod.
The FCRA bank account from NGOs is also frozen, preventing the organization using funds parked in it.
The affected NGO can make representations of MHA to the suspension, which unless revoked remains valid for 180 days and followed by a permanent cancellation from the FCRA registration.
The list of the Ministry of Home NGOs whose FCRA licensed was suspended in 2020 mentions seven organizations – Vedruna Seva Mandal based in Gujarat and the Association of Ecreosoculis Gossner Western Western Evg, the Association of New Life Fellowship, Don Bosco Tribal Society, Rajnandgaon Leprosy Hospital, Rajnandgaon and Clinic and the North Lutheran Evangelical Church.
