Fear of Taliban, Afghanistan Sikhs & Hindu Send SOS: ‘Help us before it’s too late’

Amritsar: Sikh and Hindu communities who torn Afghan war have appealed to the international community to evacuate them for safety before it’s too late.
Speaking with ToI on Monday, President Gurdwara Karta Parwan, Kabul, Gurnam Singh said there were around 150 Sikh and Hindus who lived in Kabul under the constant fear of the Taliban.
“For now, we live in Kabul and safe but for no one knows how long we will remain safe,” Gurnam said, added that they were afraid to move.
He said four out of five Gurdwaras in Kabul was closed and Parkash from Sri Teacher Granth Sahib was only done at Gurdwara Karte Parwan.
He said the remaining Hindu and Sikh Afghanistan did not want to go to India because there was no financial security for them.
“I lived in India for several months, my 14-year-old daughter was infected with Coronavirus and died due to lack of oxygen, after I returned to Kabul,” he said, adding that Afghan’s Hindu and Sikh conditions.

Meanwhile, Manmet Singh Bhullar Foundation, Khalsa Aid Canada and the World Sikh Organization (WSO) from Canada (WSO) has urged the Canadian government to create a special program for the minority of Sikh and Hindu Afghanistan which is very vulnerable.
“We are in a strong agreement with those who ask the Canadian government to act quickly by providing ways to safety for vulnerable populations in Afghanistan.
These include SIKH and Hindu minorities that have become a sustainable target of extremist groups.

He said in 2015, Manmeet Singh Bhullar took the cause of helping Sikh and a Hindu minority in Afghanistan.
Since passing, the Foundation Manmeet Singh Bhullar has worked with the Canadian government and community partners to bring 60 refugees to Canada with 120 in the queue to arrive soon through a personal sponsor of refugee programs.
