New Delhi: With the Covid-19 vaccine Zydus Cadila-19 developed in the original accepting authorization of emergency use, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday praised it as an “important achievement” and said the approval for the world’s first DNA-based vaccine against Coronavirus was a testimony Innovative Indian scientists.
The biotechnology department on Friday said the Zydus Cadila Covid-19 vaccine was originally Zycov-D had received approval for the authorization of emergency use from the drug controller General India and it would be given to people 12 years and above.
With emergency use authorization (EUA), Zycov-D has also become the first vaccine given to those aged 12-18 years in this country.
“India fights Covid-19 with a full enthusiasm.
The approval for the ‘Zycov-D’ vaccine based in the world-based @ZYDuniverse is a testimony for the spirit of innovative Indian scientists,” Modi Prime Minister Tweeted.
“It’s important,” he added.
VACKIN COVISHIELD, Covaxin and Sputnik V are given only at the age of 18 and unlike Zycov-D, which is three doses, this is given in two doses.
The Biotechnology Department (DBT) said that Zycov-D was the world’s first DNA-based vaccine against Coronavirus and when injected produce protein surge in the SARS-COV-2 virus and raises immune responses, which play an important role in the protection of disease and viral permits.
