Federation General Category Urges Punjab CM not to make hasty decisions on the 85th Amendment

PATIALA: The general category of the Federation of Welfare has urged the Punjab government to not make a hasty decision on the implementation of the 85th amendment in the country without complying with certain conditions set by the Supreme Court in the case of Nagraj such as excluding the cream layer.
Scheduled caste employees of accelerated promotional benefits and consequential seniority on promotions should not be permitted.
Jaswant Singh Dhaliwal, President of the State Federation in a letter to the Minister of Chief and Ministers and other Mlaas has stated that the central and state governments have not identified the cream layer between SC, ST employees in accordance with the APEX court order so there is no need to apply the 85th amendment.
They said that if the government continued the process of implementing the 85th amendment for political gains, employees with the general category would be forced to oppose the decision and take legal courses.
In Punjab SC / SH employees have exceeded the percentage set by the government, then the need for a continuation of the reservation.

He said that the state government had been asked several times to build the State Commission for the general category welfare as committed to the Congress at the time of the latest assembly selection.
This is needed so that the general category can place their complaints before the State Commission.
