Roger Federer has resigned from July 23 – August.
8 Tokyo Olympics after taking a knee injury during the grass court season, Swiss said on Tuesday.
Federer, who is 40 next month, has two knee operations in 2020 which resulted in more than a year of rehabilitation.
He pulled away from the Frenchman open after winning the third round match to save himself for the grass court season.
He was beaten in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon.
“During the grass court season, unfortunately I experienced a setback with my knees, and had accepted that I had to withdraw from the Tokyo Olympics,” Federer said on Twitter.
“I was very disappointed, because it had become an honor and highlighted my career every time I represent Switzerland.” I have started rehabilitation in hopes of returning to this summer weekend tour.
