Ranchi: The district government in Jamtara has decided to change buildings into clubs and recreation centers exclusively for senior citizens to give them the opportunity to interact socially and relax.
Speaking with Toi on Saturday, Deputy Commissioner Jamtara Faiz Aq Ahmed Mumtaz said, “We have planned one club in six blocks and they are expected to be operational in mid-December.” He added, “The idea of the exclusive cum-recreation club center for senior citizens surprised us after finding examples of depression between them because of various problems.
I am looking for ways to solve the problem and that’s when we decided to put the building left or not used to use well.
“He further said,” The government often spends crores rupees in building buildings but quite often some of these structures remain unused or less utilized which causes a waste of public money.
Also, the building left is the potential of crime hotspots.
Therefore, We are thinking of converting buildings where basic infrastructure is there and all that is needed is innovative intervention to change it into a healthy place.
“The foundation for the project has begun and once ready, administration will be the management committee of among the locals to run the club.
“Local block development officers will be members of the former committee office.
The local committee can run these clubs in a way that keeps the atmosphere of life.
The club will have a room in the room like Carrom Board and Ludo and TV.
Once a month, we will hold an examination camp Health and other activities, “DC said.
Jamtara is one of the six districts consisting of Santhal Pargana commissioners.
Over the years, this sleepy city became famous as an Indian phishing capital because many incidents of Cyberrime came from here.
To channel the youth towards the right direction, the district administration earlier this year managed to initiate other innovative plans to prepare a library in all of its Panchayats.
“Today, all Panchayats 118 we have a fully functional library with more than 35,000 books where thousands of youth in various age groups spend time reading every day.
We also come up with a special website where the details of all libraries are mentioned.
Regular classes are held every time Days on various topics in each place, the details are updated on the website, “said DC, added that the district administration focused on social engineering to help Jamtara avoid the negative image.
