Coimbatore: A female elephant collapsed on private land in the village of Periya Thagam in the district on Sunday morning, died without responding to treatment on Monday night.
The Forestry Department tried to revive the elephant in vain.
Division Division Division Coimbatore TK Ashok Kumar said that female elephants, around 45 years old, died of age-related diseases.
“Previously, the Veterinary Assistant of the Surgeon K Rajesh Kumar from Mudumalai Tiger Reserve and the veterinarian team provided by antibodies and fluids to revive the elephants for the past two days.
However, the elephant died without responding to treatment,” said Ashok Kumar.
