Female injured in an acid attack

Thiruvananthapuram: A 33-year-old woman was injured critically after her partner poured the acid format on her body.
The incident occurred in Puliyarakonam below the boundary of the Vilappilsala police station in the district on Wednesday night.
Lekshmi, a resident of Maruthamkuzhy, was attacked by his former Live-in Biju partner.
The police have launched the hunt for Biju, who fled after the incident.
Police said that Biju and Lekshmi lived together for the past four years.
Recently, they have lived separately because of alleged domestic violence by Biju.
On Wednesday, he reached his house around 8pm along with his edge with an automatic pedicab.
He took him alone into a room, locked the door from inside and poured acid, which was stored in the tube, above his head.
He suffered burns throughout his body, including the head, face, chest, stem and thighs.
He ran out of his hospital in pain and rushed to the nearest hospital with the same pedicab who was waiting for him outside.
Sub Inspector Vilappilsala Shibu said that Biju had stunted his head using an iron rod before pouring acid.
“The suspect is a rubber tapping worker and this explains the existence of acid format in his house,” said Sub Inspector, adding that formatty acid is used for the purpose of rubber sheet coagulation.
He said that Lekshmi arrived at Biju’s residence on Wednesday night according to the last invitation.
“When living in Seethathode in Pathanamthitta for a short period, Biju has pawned some of his gold ornaments.
After the separation, he demanded them back.
He told him to come to his house around Wednesday so he could return ornaments, “said Si, adding that the attack could be planned.
Lekshmi was previously married to another man and has two children in that relationship.
